WIP Wednesday

A quieter week this week so a little more sewing done thankfully! Linking up with Quiltsy blog and Freshly pieced for work in progress Wednesday.

I have been enjoying making cute camera case wristlets for my Etsy shop!  They seem popular and I have some more gorgeous fabric on it's way to make some more.

I made this today for my Jacob's Jubilee party at school tomorrow.  Not the t shirt but the union Jack.

I am thinking seriously about cutting into these fabrics asap for a new table runner but I just can't pin down what I want to do.  Wonky stars??? more triangles???? traditional block? Modern block?

I really can't make my mind up and any advice would always be appreciated! also I sent off my modern she made swap project last Friday!  Nervously awaiting my partner's reaction!

A surprise package!

Woke up to another beautiful day.  Yesterday was hard as Colin and I attended the funeral of a friend Mark who you may remember I spoke of passing away.  Our little church was full with people in the foyer as well.  There was a huge mixture of all kinds of people.  As he was only 36.  The same age as Colin and I.

It was moving and hard for our church Elders as the ones leading the service had known him since he was a wee boy and taught him in Sunday school.  Heartbreaking for the family who paid tribute in their own brave ways.

The first time techno has ever been played in our church I think!  He was a DJ and musician.

Today is a new day however.  And I got a lovely surprise!
My Modern She made swap partner item arrived from California.  Only sent on Monday!  I can't believe how quickly this has came!

I totally love them!  The kids love them too.  4 placemats 4 cloth napkins beautifully made.  So there you go!
Have a lovely sunny weekend everyone.

A finish at last!!

Hooray my mini quilt for my Modern She Made Swap is finished finally!  Currently hanging out drying on the line in the glorious sunshine and just needs pressed and posted with some other goodies!

It is still a little crinkly so I think I would like to give it a little press as I haven't went mad with quilting this one.

I have a cute pincushion I shared a while ago and some Denyse Schmidt ( a fat quarter) plus some other bits and bobs I come up with in the next 24 hours!

pink DS :)
I am excited about this as it is my first swap and truly hope she likes what I have made!  I did a fair bit of stalking lol.

Also meant to share that I have been awarded a Liebster blog award from Sew Sleepless!  I am very honoured by this award and now have to think about which 5 blogs I would like to pass this lovely award onto!  So for now, thank you so much.

progress!

My secret partner swap is due to be shipped between Monday and Friday next week.  So I thought I had best get on with it!

So some hand quilting went on this afternoon.  I love to hand quilt so feel quite relaxed now!  That will change I am sure as the kids are around :) .

I also placed a fabric order today too.  A few fat quarters of prints I wouldn't normally go for but I love them!  Especially the Kokka!

Can't wait to get these!!
Have a lovely weekend everyone. x

hello!

Hi everyone!
So sorry I haven't been around much this week!  It has been a bit of a hectic week.  Sunday was Church, Monday we had a friend for dinner and then we had some awful news.  A friend of my hubby Colin's and mine died at the weekend we presume.  My hubby Colin and Mark were both baptised in our church just over 10 years ago.  36.  So sad. They weren't in much contact latterly but facebook maintained a link and his mum and dad has just started coming to our church again.  No idea what happened yet just that his body was found by his dear sister and now his family are facing a very difficult time.  I have been praying a lot for the family.

28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. John chapter 10 verse 28.

I was shocked and am still a bit numb to be honest as many of our friends are.

So this week I don't have an awful lot to show for work in progress Wednesday.

Just this little mini grocery bag made from an awesome Keykalou patterns pattern I bought.  This is the first time I have bought a pattern and followed one and it was excellent!  So clear and easy.  I made the small but I am sure I will make the medium and large soon!  It does use a fair bit of fabric but is worth it.

Here are some photos and it is very strong and cute.  It is unstructured so can be thrown in the machine.  This one is all for me and best of all you can always have one in your main bag for unexpected purchases!

Saturday

Hello all!

We are having a lovely Saturday here for a change.  Lovely May weather today ( pouring of rain on Thursday however!) and the kids were at a church fete with Gran and Papa.  They got tonnes of stuff from the jumble sale!  It was like Christmas again when they came home!   We all had lunch together too at the very handy cafe two doors down from us!

I just finished these for my Etsy shop last night and this morning while the kids were out.  I am in love with chevrons I must say.

only £2.00!! it has never been used.  Not a tent a football goal!

Also thinking about purchasing this book.  You may have heard of it...............

Zakka Style: 24 Projects Stitched with Ease to Give, Use & Enjoy (Design Collective)

I keep seeing projects from it and sew alongs and raves about it so I think I may finally give in!  Susan from A Canadian Abroad has just about convinced me to get it!

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend ! x

I finally finished the binding on this runner!  Lucy you will be glad to hear!

Finally managed this little Cathedral window pincushion using this excellent tutorial and made as a gift for my secret swap partner.

Did some more work on my secret partner swap mini quilt.  Still to add hand quilting.

I also made this cute little needlebook with hand stitching!

And finally, I am currently in the midst of cutting up this gorgeous chevron to make into some stock for my Etsy shop.  Coasters and a cafetiere cozy to replace one I sold last week.

Thanks for looking!

Work in progress Wednesday

Hi!  Linking up with Freshly Pieced and Quiltsy for WIP Wednesday a little later today.  My wee girl had her first induction session at primary today. She is due to start in Primary one after the summer break!  Then I will have them both at school! What a strange thought :(

I haven't been up to an awful lot since last Wednesday to be honest.

This is a mini quilt I have been working for a secret partner swap.  I just need to get on with the basting and quilting now.  It is the first time I have used such a dark grey but I love the effect!
Does designing and thinking about projects count as works in progress this week??  I have the lovely FQs of various bits and bobs and am thinking about what to make with them!
