have you heard???

I am always looking for great fabric shops and recently discovered Lady Sew and Sew.  After joining the Siblings Together Quilting Bee, I learnt that Lady Sew and Sew would be providing us with some wadding to make our quilts!

How generous is that??? I couldn't believe it and am so thankful for their generosity.  It really is a great website and at the moment they have a fantastic sale on.  Lots of AMH and Amy Butler prints among many for excellent prices.  I have been looking but resisting at the moment!

Also a huge thank you to Brenda from Pink Castle fabrics for supplying the backing fabric!

I also got my block made for this month.  It is my turn to organise the quilt design and send out the fabric etc.  Lynne (Lily's Quilts) sent me a wonderful bundle of Road 15 by Sweetwater fabrics for Moda.  It is beautiful.  I love the colours and the prints. So fun!

I came up with this block from a tutorial online.  They are woven ribbons blocks with sashing so that when all 12 large blocks are put together this gives the effect of lots of little blocks.   I added Kona slate for the sashing which I really like.

So my packages are going out tomorrow.

So please pay Lady Sew and Sew a wee visit if you get the chance and see what fabric delights they have on offer!  You will be pleasantly surprised.

My week of sewing

Hello everyone!  I am still surviving the school summer holidays ( just about ).  The kids are driving me potty but they do that at the best of times.  I would quite like a cattle prod or something to just poke them with now and again!

So this week I haven't managed a huge amount of sewing.  I have a commissioned cushion cover I am working on -

I have two more of these stars to make and then diamonds to add around the outer of each star.  Then I will be sewing to the main background by applique.   I will show more as it progresses!

I have finished my Hipbees block for July too. This is for the lovely Tanya who is making a quilt for her wee girl's birthday!  Tanya provided the aqua and red prints and said we had free reign.  It was a really fun block to do and I hope Tanya loves it!

I also got some new Moo minicards. I bought some before but they have ran out.  This time I went for one of my own handmade items.  And what better than a close up of my glorious Hipbees quilt.  Thanks ladies!

And last but by no means least it is my month to organise the August Siblings Together quilting bee quilt.  Lynne from Lily's Quilts sent me (from Moda) a fat quarter bundle of Road 15 by Sweetwater fabrics.  It is such a lovely fabric and great colours.  I am in the process of cutting and planning and will be posting out wee packs to the other girls at the beginning of next week hopefully!

That is all for now I reckon!  Have a great weekend everyone.

still here!

Hello everyone!

I am still here and kicking around.  The kids have been especially demanding this last week due to the gorgeous weather we have been having.  We have had lots of trips to the park, a trip to the science centre in Glasgow and just lazing around eating ice lollies and trying to stay cool!

Not a lot of sewing has been happening therefore.  It has just been too hot!

Remember this?  (I will be posting a mini tutorial soon).  I have a wee commission to make the pattern again for a cushion cover in some different fabrics.

I am also quite excited at the prospect of starting some one to one sewing lessons with a friend.  She is very enthusiastic and has lots of projects in mind.

So lots happening here and in the pipeline.  Hope to update you all some more later in the week.  For all the FQ retreaters, hope you had a fantastic time and thank you for sharing your pics on instagram!

work in progress Wednesday!

Hello everyone!  Well here in the UK we have been enjoying some of the hottest temperatures of the year so far!  Also with the kids off school on holiday I must say that keeping up with sewing has been pretty hard.

However, it has been too long since I have linked up with WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced, so here I am trying to get back into the habit of doing it!

This is what I have been sewing this week -

A dresden plate appliqued to background and filling with seed stitches.  Who knows where this will go next!

My Siblings Together Quilting Bee block for July to send off to Jo.

Oh and a fabric purchase as treat for losing 3lbs in weight last week!

And that is what I have been up to!  What have you been sewing?

A long week.....

Hello everyone!  Well how are all those parents out there coping with their little darlings being off for the summer break???

Me?  I am surviving just about.   Although I am having terrible sewing withdrawal symptoms. I forgot how hard it is to get any sewing done with an 8 and 6 year old around to entertain.

We have had rainy days at the start of the week,  a trip to Tesco to spend pocket money, a trip to the park, a visit to grandparents and lots of playing in the garden since the sun and heat arrived back.

Yes they have coats on but there was a v chilly wind that day before the heat arrived again!

We also had lunch outside yesterday which was our first proper al fresco lunch of the summer!

Sewing has been sketchy this week.  Although I have been cracking on with this epp project -

I have no idea what to do next but I just wanted to try it out!  Do you ever get ideas that you just need to experiment with?

I received some more of my bee blocks from Bee a Brit Stingy chum Karen from Blueberry Park.  Karen designs and screenprints the most gorgeous fabric and has included some here in her blocks for me!

Fellow Scot, Sheila Bluepatch Quilter is queen bee for this month and asked for beachy colours, blues, aquas oranges acid green for this months blocks.  I love this colour combo!

So that is all from me for now folks!  I think that is everything!  I will be watching the Wimbledon men's final tomorrow cheering on my fellow Scot Mr Murray, although he is v nerve wracking to watch!

Fresh sewing day

Hi everyone!  I am a little later in linking up with Fresh Sewing Day over at Lily's Quilts today but I am here!

Here is what I have been working on and finishing during the month of June.

Some English paper piecing, a custom order of craft mats for a lovely Etsy customer, Lavender bags with Liberty fabrics for my etsy shop.

I inserted my first zipper in the little blue and linen pouch.  The star cushion is English paper pieced.

The Field study quilt is my hand quilted wonderful Hipbees quilt.  I really loved hand quilting it!

The wonderful bottom middle block was for our Siblings Together Quilting Bee organised by Lynne.  And last but not least, a wonky log cabin for Lynz from the Hipbees.  She was queen bee in June!  Her quilt is going to be awesome!

Thanks for looking!

Collette x  Oh and I am hoping to put a wee tutorial together for the star cushion cover!
